Oh Jesus someone has to help,
My box has been chipped for about 2 years, chip.......unknown......version.....unknown

However i can tell u earlier this year i upgraded the hardrive its, now 250 gig ( i didn't get three hundred cause i heard it can stuff the box) the brand of the HDD (Maxtor i think) made it so that it could not be "locked" which meant the dashboard (the original) couldn't be started up as before..

Btw this might help identify the chip--> it can be turned on and off depending on how long u hold the power button (pressing it quick enables the green light no chip mode, which because of the new hard drive gives a faulty hardrive message from the official box software) holding the button until the light comes on enables the chip, evox and a funny orange light

    Anyways..
I can't use the MS dash anymore without using the evox system settings, but who cares right?

    Wrong.

my Xbox is a media center
it is ftped regularly so it is full of TV shows and movies and shizz, i need those files....
the other day i tryed to play san andreas (which I think is a bit dodgy sicn eit was purchased cheaply in vietnam) and it freezes (scratched)
i noticed that with GTA: San andreas (the vietnam) that it didn't register in evox as a game, but as a evox disc then when initiated it would give the option in a new evox dash to "click here to start" then the game begins"
i figured the evox thing is to get around something Rockstar games did to try and stop anything but an original working
anyways the foreign version fudged up so i got my friends proper version of the game
    i put it in
evox proudly suggests that the disc in the drive is a game, I click start... up comes the game but it freezes on loading....... dam
    restart
OMFG MICROSOFT GREEN DASHBOARD NO EVOX!

if i don't activate the chip the same error message (cause of HDD) comes up
but activating the chip goes straight to the ms dash
    copied games still work....but I don't care....... I can't evox....i can't media centre I CAN"T FTP
its death and i don't know what to do
i unplugged the box so that a power outage reset would hopefully fix it.... it didn't
i put in the evox disc and the old san andreas disc since it had an evox thing on it
it kind of stalled..... not because its scratched because the box won't accept it for some reason...
    NOW I AM SCREWED!
    help me..........please

P.s. I Think a few , only a few game saves went missing since then aswell

well, you need a disc that can put back the old settings, maybe the original settings for the chip.i dont know if such a disc exists, but i think its the only other alternative from installing a softmod or buying a new chip.

Get Slayer's Autoinstaller or AID and use one of them to reinstall a hacked dash of your choice.

By default Slayer's will install EvoX, and AID will give you several choices of dashboards.

Don't freak out so much. It's really not a hard thing to fix since you have a chip installed.

Now about GTA:SA. The reason the Vietnam one has EvoX on it is because GTA:SA won't boot unless your Xbox boots to the same region that game is from. So even with a modded Xbox, that game is still region locked. For example, if you use a US copy of the game you have to set your Xbox to North America NTSC. This is the first time I've heard anyone say it ruined their dashboard though.

Thank you i will try it
like i say though it wasn't a hacked version of San Andreas that did it
    it was the proper version
    also
i have a slayer evox disc and i have thigns like avaluaunch and things, but if i use an auto installer, will it wipe the hardrive, because thats not an option right now.

My friend suggested Using Flash FXP to try and flash the bios is that possible without evox, and do you think it will work?
