OK this might be a dumb question... but here goes.
I have cable tv from cox and i have a Motorola Dual-Tuner DVR High-Definition Set-Top DCT6412 I was wondering if i got a roof top antenna for hd would this act as a tuner for that? SO this is what i was thinking i could put a switch before it came in to the tuner and that way i could watch hd over air or on cable.

    Thanks for your help

Sorry but that unit has no input for a local antenna. (OTA)A switch won't help at all either.

You need to get another receiver to plug an antenna into for Local HDTV. The bummer is you cant record that signal with the Motorolla DVR but the picture and sound quality will make you dislike your HD cable offerings.

Samsung has units that go for about $150 or less in the US.

    I say go for it!
