I try not to disturb the burn process, but once in a while I will browse pages while burning and come across a heavy web page that causes my computer to crank and also "pause" the burning process. The green light on my NEC will turn off for a few seconds and resume. Does this usually cause a problem during burning if the green light is not on continuously?
Yes it could cause the burn to be bad. When you are burning the disc let it burn dont run programs. If your buffer gets low enough on the burrner it will spit the disc out and you will have a bad disc. So deffently it could cause problems with the burn. Be patient and let the burrner do its work without doing other things. That is the same when you back a DVD up. Set it up let it do its work and compress the DVD then let it burn without doing other things. I have learned this by doing just that. Doing things during the encoding processes and burrning proccesses and have bad burns. The disc skips and pauses during play back. If I let it do its work without doing anything else it comes out fine. My computer is a 3.2 Ghz computer with a gig of ram and I still have to let it encode without anything else going in the background. So turn off programs also that could be running in the background.
