Hey guys I have been wondering about removing artifacts from AVI's. A lot of Avi's that I encode to dvd have many artifacts( in dark spaces) I was just wondering how do i make them better? Is there a multi pass for encoding it to dvd( other than two) I also want a nice and slow encoding for better quality. thanks guys!!!

That's just the way it is. Anytime you have smooth, basically one color backgrounds this tends to happen... dark, no detail areas and skys etc.

Thats true in most cases, however take the new cloverfield movie, its very very dark....right, and there are tons of artifacts in it when i converted it to avi, but when I encoded back to dvd with a simple 2 pass encoding, they went away for the most part.... I can really tell on my Lcd...But I do understand what you are saying, but I guess they are just unpredictable.
