    Hi, Hello and Howdy...,

OK, as a "Newbie" to all of this, I was wondering what is considered
to be the "standard" software I should be using..?

    I have a new P4 3.2 duo core
    XP Pro
    1.5Gb ram
18x dual layer LG dvd burner

should I be using DVD SHRINK 3.2 ?
is NERO still the one, if so, what version..?
    etc etc...

    your opinions greatly appreciated

    Check out this website:
    http://webpages.charter.net/bacitup/Guides.htm
There are software downloads and really good guides. You will find
    RipIt4Me there.
I use RipIt4Me, DVD Decrypter(though some prefer DVD Fab Decrypter
because it is still updated), FixVTS, Shrink, and Imgburn. Nero is
on my computer also, but I rarely use it because I like the simplicity
of Imgburn. Those are all free programs.
I also own AnyDVD which is the best unencryption program around. You
get lifetime updates. Updates are done quite often-every time some
new encryption comes up. I do not have Clone, but the consensus of
opinion of those who have it is it's is also an excellent program.
Haven't found any movies I can't back up with the combinations I already have.
    Hope this helps.

there is so many different programs and opinions, so many that I found searching the net were all old, and out of date.

So its Ripit4me, DVD decrypter & imgburn

    will see how I go,

    Thanks again,
    Dave

PS: just in case, does anyone have any decent use's for "coasters"
