    Hi all,

My goal is to record weekly football games from TV with a capture card. I want to then edit out commericals and burn onto DVD so I can rewatch at my leisure. To this extent I have an ATI Tv Wonder (old one, not VE or PRO). I have all the necessary software to make the DVD, I have the DVD burner, double layer DVD's to fit the software.

My complaint is with the overall quality. While the picture is relatively clean, it is nowhere near the resolution you would see on TV. I have tried to crank the settings as high as they go but I think it is more a problem with the card. Would I be better to purchase a the ATI Tv Wonder Elite, or even the VE or Pro. Is this card just too old? Is there a better card I should get for relatively same price ($150 or less).

I also want to use the card with some sort of tv schedule so I can record other sporting events, etc and watch at my lesiure.

    Thanks for the help.

Are you using ATI MMC and if so what exact settings are you using (bitrate, resolution)?

Well the TV Wonder used the BT878A Decoder chip which is an 8 bit Video decoder which only Produces Mediocre Quality...The TV Wonder VE uses the same Chip so it won"t Produce any Better quality...

The TV Wonder Pro uses a 10 bit decoder so it Produces a Bit better quality but there is no reason why you have to Buy an ATI Card.....

How much are you willing to spend on a New capture Card??
