Ah...great to be back, yet again!

Ok...so...after reading that Eminem thread and being at work last night, listening to a mix cd that I made of old skool hip hop, I was wondering:

What are/is your favorite old skool groups that you could listen to ALL day?

I mean, for me, it was KRS-One, Fat Boys, Dominoe, and all the other rappers that were back in the 90s. To me that is old skool.

But anyways, lets hear what you have! I don't care if you are from Africa, New Zealand, Finland, UK, or where ever you live at or whatever the genre you like, rock, heavy metal, reggae, irish folklore, anything goes...let us know what it is!

Here are some of my favorite songs back in the day:

    Naughty by Nature-Feel me flow
    KRS One-Going way back
Fat Boys-The Fat Boys Are Back
    Dominoe-Ghetto Jam
Chubb Rock-Just The Two Of Us
Bone Thugs and Harmony-1st of the month

Keep 'em coming all, definately would love to hear what you all have as old skool in every part of the world!

    Happy posting!

    ;P

*BTW...Eminem, 50 Cent, The Game and all the rest of those groups ARE NOT considered old skool no matter how much you want them to be.

    ;)

I'm from the UK and like rap. I still listen to Grandmaster Flash & The Furious 5, Run DMC, N.W.A. and thier solo projects, Gang Starr, KRS-One & Boogie Down Productions. All of them are tight. Although people like Pac and Wu-Tang's debut albums are old skool I still consider them part of the new breed of rappers.

I don't listen to old skool rap, but I do listen to older rock and stuff.

    Currently listening to:
    Sammy Hagar/Van Halen
    Journey
    The Beatles
    Led Zeppelin
    Elton John
    AC/DC
Metallica (old, not new, new sucks)
    Aerosmith
    David Bowie
    Def Leppard

Okay I think that's enough for now. Anyway, I'm from the US (not proud of it, but it's not like I have a choice right now).

90s rap is not "old school" but if you want to listen to some good music from around that time check out stuff from the following:

    A Tribe Called Quest
    De La Soul
    KRS-0NE/ Boogie Down Productions
    Eric B and Rakim
    Pete Rock and CL Smooth
    Nice and Smooth
    Das EFX
    EPMD
    Redman
    Lords of the Underground
and last but not least, Gangstarr

I graduated in the mid 80's. Some of the music was ok but I mainly listed to the older 60's and 70's. They don't make them like they used to, like:

    The Kinks
    Pink Floyd
    The Who
Any of the beatles, after their breakup
    Jethro Tull
    Led Zeppelin
    Eric Clapton
    Neil Young

I definitely hate rap and country, LOL!

Well B2D, I don't want to sound rude, but like I said earlier in my post...I "personally" consider what I listed as far as 90s rap as to be old school to me.

Because to me, it was the time that the music influenced my life way more than this new stuff that is out now.

So this is just my personal thing.

    ;)

    sure great band

ELO began as an outgrowth of '60s UK psych-rockers the Move and the Idle Race, but when former Move frontman Roy Wood departed early in the game, Jeff Lynne fashioned the band as a high-tech Beatles for the '70s. Featuring a full-time string section, ELO picked up where "Strawberry Fields" left off, creating orchestral Britpop without the pretense of prog-rock. The band's slick, lush sound helped define '70s pop, and proved influential decades later to the likes of Air and the Polyphonic Spree

heres a couple bands from the past ..Poco...Pablo Cruise..you guys remember them

I love those orchestra rock bands like ELO and Moody Blues. Hell, even Queen. I grew up with a brother 8 years and sister 6 years older than me,so all I heard is the70's music-even disco-drats!. My brother use to love playing Deep Purple's Smoke on the Water on his electric guitar. Those were the days!
