Hi guy's, I'm looking for a little help again, if some of you can help ;-)

I dug out an old Toshiba laptop it's a satellite 4090xcdt it's old lol It was running windows 95 but in order to use a certain type of broadband, it had to be upgraded so I upgraded it to windows 2000.

My cousin was using it for weeks with no problems then one night he switches it off and when he turns it back on......the windows bar at the bottom of the screen loads a quarter way and then stops and we hear this groaning noise from the in side.

Then an error msg comes up showing " Windows 2000 could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\pci.sys you can attempt to repair this file by starting windows 2000setup using the original setup floppy disk or cd rom. Select "r" at the first screen to start repair."

I went to the bios and choose cd-rom to boot up with and put the windows 2000 cd in the rom drive, but the same thing keeps happening all the time.

Is there a way to save this or reckon dump it?

    Thanks
    Sandisk
