I have used Decrypter with Shrink for about a year. My burner died and I just installed a new one (Pioneer 16X internal). I am getting error messages whenever I attempt to backup and I do not understand what the problem is. The message comes on after sometime during the burning process, encoding is fine. The setting is at 4400 and I am burning with Nero. I have tried different brands of blanks as well.

I messed up when I attempted to copy the error message but this is the lower portion--if you need more tell me and I will attempt to make another backup.

Update the firmware of your burner and then buy MCC Verbatim blank media and burn at 4x.

hi, no need to waste a disc, post LAST section of your Nero log, which is in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log, but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar

i'll request the thread be moved to Nero forum in the meantime..

    @BillyZ -

    - wow, that's far too ancient

    - yup, Nero's too old to recognise your burner correctly

    - OMG that's real bad. How on earth are you getting any burns to work. i can't even advise you to free up memory there as 128MB is incredibly low, for Windows XP alone, never mind dvd work or anything on top. Need to get more memory i'm afraid..

    - splat!

LOL-thanks for the play by play!--alright so I need to update NERO so it is recognized by my new burner, and add memory and that should stop the SPLAT?
Whats the newest version of NERO available?

Thanks for all your help!! I really do appreciate it.
    Bill

Yes, I did enjoy the splat comment--but the splat that I'm encountering sounds more like a THUD with all hopes and dreams. Anyway, I have purchased 256MB of RAM which will give me a whopping 386MB (much higher so it is an improvment for me, dont laugh people with 1GB) and was wondering if Nero 6.3.1.4 will work? Thanks again for all your help

That version of Nero may work but why not just update to the latest.
Here's a link to dl (nero site can be waaaay to slow):
    http://www.filepedia.com/cdr_software/cdr_applications/nero.cfm
Good choice of media - stick with those TY's.
As Jim Dandy said Creaky is the man with nero logs - can't go wrong w/ his advice!

cheers guys!, but i just say what i say in tham thar logs.. as long as it works, i'm happy...

but BillyZ, do update the Nero as your drive is only detected generically... ps still make sure to close down what you can prior to burns. i thought i had enough with 512MB for ages, but Nero was crapping out on me (i've always got antivirus stuff running for instance). now i'm at 1GB, i've got 600MB free the whole time (i only really use PC for surfing, work, and burning movies)..
