I have an older laptop that I would like to upgrade the RAM. Searching Crucial website for my model the point me to... rucial 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR3/DDR3L 1600 MT/S (PC3-12800) Unbuffered SODIMM 204-Pin Memory But a web search for RAM for my model says... Memory Standard: DDR3 SDRAM (800 MHz/1066 MHz/1333 MHz) Two SODIMM slots supporting dual-channel memory 1024MB and 2048MB SODIMMs. Standard memory up to 4096MB Maximum : Upgradeable to 8192MB with optional 4096MB SODIMMs in slots 1 and 2 Dual-channel: Maximized dual-channel performance requires SODIMMs of the same size and speed in both memory slots. Thoughts, from those of you with more experience?
did you run the scanner tool or input the make & model of the laptop on the Crucial site as I input your model & it was not found?
I think that was how I did it. I will look again. I'm on my phone right now and it seems not working the same. Edit: back on laptop. I found the scan tool and just ran that and it brings up what I posted above (among others). https://www.crucial.com/ProductDisp...Id=-1&scanId=8457A22E31D926C3&productId=11829 But I'm wondering, because I thought 1333 was max as per HP, whereas what is recommended is 1600
