Just bought a new Olevia but there are no remote codes with it to operate my Charter remote control. Does anyone have a suggestion so I can get my remote to turn my TV on and off without using several remotes to do the job. Thanks for any info

    It is not the
charter remote. It is Olevia that have no codes to control their TV. The company's only suggestion is that I buy a learning remote but my Charter remote is like a learning remote and the television does not recognize it. Any help would be appreciated.

This information is not something you would get from the t.v. manufacturer, but rather, the remote control manufacturer, in this case charter. The situation may be such that there are no codes available, i.e. your remote will not control that brand of electronic equipment. Usually with learning remotes you generally place the two remotes "LED to LED". Then you press a series of buttons on the learning remote and then the button you want it to "learn" from the other remote. If your remote is a learning remote, and not just a universal remote with programmed codes, you should be able to acheive this. If not, there are inexpensive learning remotes That function very well. I have a $23 Sony learning remote that I was able to "teach" the full functions of 6 components as well as macro functions.

Olevia would not have codes -- charter would.

Olevia/syntax in the US has been relatively obscure until a few months ago when they came out with a number of sets that got excellent reviews for the price.

so charter, comcast and others had not bothered to develop Olevia codes for their remotes. I know comcast has them on the list to develop codes.

So expect to see the codes in four to six months.

    In the meantime
    a) get a harmony ($50 and up), since logitech has developed the codes for their remotes, or
    b) get an "one for all" or other $20 learning remote with enoughmemory and spend time teaching commands
    c) use the Olevia remote to control your other systems
