I'm sorry guys I don't know what to put as the subject, i'm totally lost now.

I got this DV cam from a friend, to cut it short.. After I've recorded, I used the Firewire for MAC computers to transfer it into my friend's Mac, and imported it in using iMovie to capture the videos from the DV Tape.

I transferred the files from the MAC to my PC computer and I can't seem to open those files, that are ironically labelled as only "File" .. omg. What do I do???

SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!! I have only 2 weeks left to finish this project!! panicking now I really don't know what to do.

OR must I buy a Firewire for my PC computer instead?? Will that work for my PC to read the video files???

ADD : Ok I think I MAY have gotten the Importing part in iMovie wrong...

1)I plugged in the DV Cam with the Firewire into the MAC

    2) used iMovie to Import the files

    3) Went to the iMovie folder in the Macintosh HD and just drag / drop the Clip files into my Pendrive , before transferring them to my PC ..

    Did i do it correctly?

Cause I heard that there are still more steps even after Importing into iMovie .. Like "exporting" or something before I can bring it to PC? PLEASE ADVISE!! :(

    I'm bad at Mac, sorry..

You are correct about your thread title. You'll either get very few responses, or a mod will give you a warning about your "The Sky Is Falling" title.

Doesn't the iMovie software have a Help file?

GrandpaBW : Sigh, bro i wouldn't say it's urgent unless it really is.. I am right in front of the MAC pc right now trying to get it to work.

    I used the File -> Share -> Etc ..

to export the video out to Quicktime .. Am I doing the right thing?

But the compression is taking ages.. Sigh. It's an old Mac.

PFloyd : Bro I want to do that, but this DV cam isn't mine, and I don't have a Firewire cable for PC ..

May I know what program do I have to use if I want to capture the video to PC ?

Example : MAC uses "iMovie" , PC uses ...?

I just found out Windows Movie Maker can "Capture Video from Device" too..

But since you suggested WinDV, is WinDV better than Windows Movie Maker ?

    Thanks

Btw: Thanks alot for your help PFloyd, I finally got to access a faster Mac and got the videos "Shared to Quicktime" file .. :) Next time I would have to get my hands on a Firewire -> USB/Firewire cable instead..
