Hello everyone. First post, I've lurked for a while. Using Nero 6 to burn audio CD's I've only been able to set write speed to no less than 12x. My drive is capable of lower speeds but a scan shows the media is rated for no less than 12x. Out of five recent tries, 2 CD's were successful while the other three failed with "invalid block address".

However, I've used the same media (fujifilm CD-R) in WMP, which I have manually set to burn at 4x, without any difficulty. Is there a way to tell Nero to override the media's stated min.? I imagine that's how WMP pulls it off.

    Thanks in advance.

Your discs probably use a short write strategy because of the faster reaction time of the phthalocyanine dye used in them. Your drive is limiting the slowest speed to 12X because of the concern about overburning the discs at slower speeds (and probably because the drive manufacturer may not have bothered to write a burn strategy for slower speeds.)

Recording at too slow a speed will cause jitter problems with today's fast-reacting "52X" CD-R media. Stay at 16X or 24X for the best results.
