I have a problem which drives me crazy. Whenever I insert a CD or DVD into a drive it reads the first disk I put into it - and then it "thinks" it is "always" there even when I replace it. As a result I can read only one disk per session, and need to reboot for the other. This became intolerable when I had to install a software that requires two disks and waits for the second to be inserted into the same drive. The installation failed of course.

When I Explore the drive - it shows me the Root Directory of the first one. This happens on both drives I have on my computer It happens even if I approach the drives through another computer which is on the same network. (There only two computers on my home net)

The problem started sometime around the time I added a third CD drive with a RAID controller added ad a PCI card. I thoght it maight be connected, but removal of the card did not solve it. My computers details were at the time:AMD 2200 Machine with 512MB of RAM Windows XP pro. The DVD player is BENQ 16X - it is the slave on the secondary IDE. The DVD burner is LG GSA 4082B - and it is the Master on the Secondary Channel. The CD Burner is Samsung CD-R/RW 48x IDE which is on Ultra ATA/133 Software RAID IDE controller

Then I have upgraded (practically replaced) my computer. (AMD 4200+ Dual core, on Gigabyte GA-KSNS Mother Board with one 250MB WD S-ATA (Raid) HD and one 160MB ATA (IDE) HD. One BQ DVD drive and one BQ DVD burner.

At the beginning evrything was perfect. And I was installing my software for days. And suddenly the problem resumed. It was right after installing Blindwrite 5. So I uninstalled it - and the problem was sold!!! I thought "BINGO" I made a great discovery BlindWrite and RAID controllers dislike each other. !

A few days later I needed bady Blindwrite. I installed it, and after use - uninstalled it - but remained stuck with the "Forget me not" CD Drives. Since then - I cannot read more than one CD per session.

I am sorry to bother you with the long story. But I am desparate. No one I turn to can answer. It is obvious that the problem is not hardware related (With new Motherboard, CPU, Drives, Cables). Is it some conflict between ASPI and Patin-Couffin? I tried to weed out any remains of BW. I searched every file with VSO, Blindwrite, Patin Couffin, Pcouffin in its name or inside. Same I did in the registry.

    Mayday Mayday Mayday!
