I have just had a go with Auto Gordian Knot to produce the Night Watch. I'm almost impressed however I do have two problems. The first is that there is no sound what so ever. How do I get sound? The second is that I get two halves of the movie called cd1 and cd2. Is that normal?
OK now I'm confused. If I play the AVI in Windows Media Player then I get no sound. However if I play it with NERO Show Time I get the soundtrack. Anybody know what's going on?
You do not have the proper audi codec installed for WMP. I use VLC or MPC, no need for third party codecs like WMP needs. As for CD1 or CD2, you must have the wrong setting in AutoGK for output size probably. The default setting is for 2 CDs, you need to change it.Read the guide: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd_to_avi_autogk.cfm P.S The second part, Day Watch is much better!
Hello Thanks for the reply however with trial and error I managed to solve an awful lot last night. Not only did I learn to install new codecs into WMP to listen to AC3 but I also learnt how to listen to OGG Vorbis. With the two CD default I got round that by selecting Target Quality at 100%. I'm not worried about file size and as it turned out a one hand a half hour film with original AC3 soundtrack only took 45 minutes to do. The picture quality was more than I was expecting and to my eyes it was as good as the Ripped DVD that I had made using DVD Shrink. Cheers
