Goodday, I have recently bought an Onkyo TX-SR505E receiver and Q Acoustics 1010i 5.1 speakers. I am having a problem with the receiver or subwoofer. The subwoofer goes into standby when it does not get a signal. Howver, it does not come on when it should and goes off when it shouldn't. For instance, when I use thee receivers test tone, it does not come on till the volume is set to about 40 (high). And druign a movie the sub can go off and then on a number of times. Has anybopdy had a similar problem or does anybody know a way to test whether it is the sub or the receiver? Unfortunately, I know nobody with a powered sub or a receiver with sub line out. I would appreciate absolutely any help or suggestions, seeing as one of the two will have to go back. Both were bought from online stores. On a seperate note (atleast I think it is), the sub gives out a 'pop' when I switch my light on and off. Does this have anything to do with it? It does not bother me, and if the experts here say it is not a problem, than I am happy to ignore it. Thank you so much in advance. Regards, James Onkyo TX-SR505E 7.1 receiver, Q Acoustics 1010i 5.1 speakers (1000S subwoofer), PS3, Phillips HD-Ready Widescreen CRT. Cables are all Belkin Pure AV series (including sub line cable).
subwoofers will only go on when the receiver sends subwoofer info some movies have very little or no subwoofer info so the turning on and off of the woofer is normal check your receiver manual for info on how to adjust the volume of the sub woofer also check the back of the woofer to see if there is a volume control if there is turn it all the way up
