onkyo tx sr875 av receiver fatal malfunction?

    new amp less than a month old listening to film when 2 or 3 loud cracks from amp happened came thru speakers as well and amp went off and when switched on it goes off again.think there is a burning smell

    all cables out and plug in power cord switch on click off,read the problem page and return to onkyo,will bring 2x4 as i want a replacement not a repair.lol

    Sounds like a fatal problem in the PSU.. either transformer or bridge rectifier.. usually caused by shorted main smoothers (in Onkyo kit anyways.. the big blues "made in Singapore" are suspect in these amps)
    As stated.. use your warranty.

    i brought it back and they will ring me on monday ,just as well i have 2 backups lol

    i am awaiting new boxed unit arriving in on monday or tuesday from uk depot.

    picked up replacement one tonight ,now to give my neighbours in the first house a demo.lol

    10.45 pm bit late for demo,as i had to go thru all settings again,still i played a bit of bubble hits on it until 11.30 pm,might give my new cd of basshunter as that sounds excellent thru twin subs with volumn cranked up in car,now for the house test.lol

    6 hrs of feeling the music ,i had it down to 18dcb awesome great bit of kit,and even switched on second amp 12 speakers rocking ha ha thanks to the neighbours for going out for the weekend lol
