I changed an avi to an mpeg-2 using adobe media encoder in premier pro 1.5. It plays back fine on my laptop, but I did a test and burned to dvd using tmpgenc author. there were stops and stutters and you could see little boxes too. any ideas what this could be caused by?
Stop's and stutter's are usually caused by poor media and/or a too fast burning speed. Keep burns around 4x and use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim or any media Made in Japan. Here's a media guide to look over: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm The smaller resolution of a pc monitor compared to a much larger tv results in the quality difference. That is the main reason why I quit downloading lower quality video.
Mistycat, I had used a rewritable 4X by TDk, could be that that disk has had it. This was something I had filmed in MiniDV and edited using premiere pro 1.5.
TDK can be great media or very poor, depending on its manufacture site. I believe TDK has 2 sites and the poor quality disc's are made in Taiwan. I only use TY or Verbatim now but in the past for quite a while, used TDK bought at Costco and, believe it or not, never got a bad batch.
