Your log is clean so, it's not a virus causing this. Try repairing with your recovery disc.

I don't exactly trust any program running at startup from the System32 folder:

    O4 - Global Startup: RAMASST.lnk = C:\WINDOWS\system32\RAMASST.exe

But I can say for one thing, your startup folders and run sections of the registry are one of the largest I've seen. Taking up a vast amount of resources in your machine.

You also have both Windows and MSN Messenger running at startup, as well as every update manager on the planet!

Might want to consider going into MSCONFIG and shutting down some of those.

    Morph416,

RAMASST.exe is safe. It belongs to the DVD drives. It disables Windows's CD-burning abilities because they cause some incompatibilities. Can be removed but, I wouldn't recommend it.

I'm leaning towards a hardware issues here. Sounds like the HDD isnt spinning up fast enough and reporting an OK status to BIOS. After a few reboots, teh drive is up to speed, adn everything loads. Find out what brand HDD you have, and download a diagnostic program from the manufacturers site and run it. See if the drive is failing. If so, there are ways to image your current drive to a new one without losing any data. We'll discuss that when/if you determine the drive is bad.
