hi, i just recently had the open tray error, so i opened the 360, and cleaned the internal xbox and laser, while opened i tried to play game, and behold it worked, but after reassembleing the 360 it now displays OPEN TRAY again..
Could be several things but i would aim for 2 things in particular.Firstly check the laser guide rails are clean,if so reapply laser rail lubricant.Failing that the laser may have become weaker over time and struggling to read your discs.You can either pot tweak the laser (using a multimeter to increase its strength),or buy a full laser replacement which is very easy to install.There are guides out there for both remedies.If you need links let me know..
