First I would like to say I have done a lot of research on this topic already. I have tried the 3mmx3mmx1mm plastic trick and that failed me. I havent tried any other method and if at all possible dont want to do the pot tweak. I just recently flashed ixtreme 1.51 on my xbox. I have tried three burned discs, all of them verbatims burned at 2.4x using imgburn. All passed stealth checks. None have worked ever and just click a few times then back to "open tray". My originals work alright though, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I have heard of a rubberband trick and was wondering if I should try that. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you're going to have to do the pot calibration.

i think ill try to reflash the firmware, if that fails me i can either pot tweak or just flash ixtreme on my brother's box. The pot tweak looks like a pain to do and i don't have a multimeter so ill save it for last. My question is why do my originals work, but the burned copies dont. Thanks for the help btw.

To answer WJ99, yeah I have updated, if by update u mean the new dashboard update.

The dye in the backup makes the laser struggle to read through it. You can try reflashing the firmware. Make sure you restore before reflashing iXtreme. But I feel you will be just wasting time because Hitachis are notorious for this problem.

You either have to do the pot tweak or get a new drive. Simple as that.

Might as well try the pot tweak first, then, when you burn up your drive, replace it with a BenQ and reflash it. I hope you kept your drive key handy ;)

If that fails, buy a BenQ and spoof to that. I have thrown every known crap discs at it and it always reads them. Of course Verbs are recommended. Sounds like a laser issue. You can try boosting the laser. If that doesn't work. You need a new drive.

Dont think the reflash will help. I have done the POT tweak without a multimeter, just turn the screw driver a fraction at a time and stop when it reads your disks. Its no harder than flashing your xbox.

i have found a cheap multimeter and will probably do the pot tweak once it is shipped to my house. You were correct, the reflash did nothing.

The multimeter doesn't have to be fancy, I got mine for $8 and it works.

Go ahead and get a new drive and spoof it, I just went through this myself and never got it to work with pot tweak. P.S. don't go pass 2.6 ohms unless you don't want it to read anything(done it).

I've got plenty of BenQs if you don't get your Hitachi working. PM if interested.

You are still crying over that? I'm no Moderator but I didn't list a price and for all you know I could be giving them away for free. So why don't you quit calling people out, click "Report an offensive post" and be on your way.

gameover9 - 'fraid this is getting old now. Contact the Mod who banned you and see what he or she says. Or give it up already ?. I'm busy updating some Linux laptops and i can't be doing with this (ongoing) moaning, it's distracting.
