As of yesterday, whenever I try opening any .exe file it says "Choose the program you want to use to open this file." I also noticed the icons for most programs are missing. Worst case scenario when I want to run a program I usally just right click and hit run as admin. I figured I'd try restoring my computer, but when I navigate through the control panel it does and hit the restore utton it does nothing. Nothing pops up. Any help or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

Your file associations are broken or it could be that you have deleted the extension but from what you said, it will be the first one.

What OS of Windows do you have?

On XP, goto control panel and "Set program access and defaults" etc

Reset all possible extentions and associations.

    Hope that helps a little...

I'm running Vista. I was trying your suggestion, and couldn't get open the "Set program access and computer defaults". Because when I clicked it it sayed open with. I then located my computerdefaults.exe in system32. I hit the microsoft option, and also tried custom and it didn't help.
