I currently have a Logitech 5300 5.1 surround and integrated sound card on my pc. My sound card is Realtek HD audio driver. I would describe my sound quality as being very good not great. What I'm wondering is what would you do first if you wanted to improve your sound? Put in a quality Pci soundcard or replace my logi with its more expensive brother(5500) which has digital inputs/outputs. Related to this I put in a new motherboard a few months back and it has a S/PIF digital audio interface? Can anyone explain what thats used for or if it could help me in this situation? Thanx!!!

I have the Logitech 5300e 5.1 speaker setup also. I think that mine sound great! Especially for being computer speakers. Mine is hooked up to an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum sound card. I don't know if we just have different opinions of what "great" sounds like, or if the card is the difference. The card may have a lot to do with it, since it cost me $200, which isn't cheap.

I also have a nice surround system in the living room. If I want to see a good action movie, that my wife doesn't want to see, I'll go into the computer room, and watch it in surround, on the computer, and she can watch tv in the living room. I really like this setup..........
    Good luck!

I have two separate audio setups as well. 3 speaker system in my pc room and logitech surround in my living room. I agree its great to be able to go into "my dungeon" whilst the little woman watches tv and leaves me alone. Actually I will be getting a sound card. The soundblaster platinum. It'll be around 300$ CDN with tax but from what I've read this soundcard is a worldbeater so I'm excited.
