Hey I'm planning on buying the Logitech MX-518 optical gaming mouse, and I was wondering if mouse pads are important. I got an old mouse pad right now, is a new pad needed for the optical mouse to work well?

    Thanks

Oh ok thank you ddp, I was just asking because I saw somewhere that some mouse pads make the mouse more sensitive or accurate or something like that due to the design and patterns of the pad.

Certain mouse mats don't seem to work as well with optical mice as others, i think it could be down to the reflective nature of the material used to make the mouse mat

A mouse pad that is a solid color and preferably dark in color will work well optical or not. I have a black one for my main PC and I just use my wood workbench without a pad for my workbench PC.
