I have an Optorite DD201 burner that is superb, except I think I have just messed up due to my lack of knowledge of backing up DVD's. Basically I can no longer change the region code of my drive and it is set to Region 1 for US discs, as I have backed-up a few of these. Thing is I want to turn the region code back to region 2 as I live in the UK and the stupid thing will not let me, which is a complete pain as the majority of discs I back-up are region 2's. I have updated the drives firmware hoping that this would reset the region change counter back up to 5 but it did not work! Is there any simple to use software hack that can help me out with my dilema.
I have managed to get this working with a trial version of DVD Region Free, however DVD Decrypter does not work with it. DVD shrink does, which I mainly use anyway. I was just wondering is there a way to resest the Region on the Optorite burners or have I screwed it with my lack of knowledge?
I have this fixed with a hacked firmware version from RPC1 or something, so I can forget about the software now. Great drive the DD201 though
