I have the sims original but it is a downloaded copy ( the disc is scratched beyond belief. is there a way to install the expansion packs that i own? Thanks in advance -Stew
If you have the original disc, I would suggest that you contact Maxis support for a replacement copy. There may be a nominal fee but you may be able to get releif if you send them the damaged original. I haven't played this game in ages but I believe (remember) that you will need the original CD to load any expansion packs.
If you look around torrent sites. You can find a copy of The Sims and download it. If you have the original, I think it would be okay to own a copy. Isn't Sims 3 coming out next month? I didn't think anyone played Sims 1 anymore.
@EricCarr I believe that the problem he is referring to is that the expansion pack asks for THE ORIGINAL "The Sims" CD in order to install the expansion pack. Having a D/L copy is of no use when asked to "put the original disc . . " I do not know if a D/L copy can me mocked up to "look like" an original.
i'm sure there are expansion pack torrents out there that allows you to install it without having the origional disk.
