well lads i seem to have got myself in a right pickle here.So if anyone can help i will be eternally grateful. Basically it all started in december when everyone lost all channels. So I tried following all the steps (clearing the box,1570 etc) which ended up with the box refusing to let me exit out of language selection.(can go forward all the way but cant exit any further than language. Then i went and got a null modem cable found GTRom v4(1).oo and CryptStar-v1(1).5.core 4.00. But when i try to downloadit it keeps failing and I dont know any way out of it. I have tried all the com ports but all fail. I am in Dublin on N*l so any help lads

english press ok istallation press ok choose your prov then automatic scan when channels found exit back to blank screen then press menu 1.5.7.0 into next menu go down flick across to emu on then exit exit/// and you can never exit any further than language screen just means the box has been factory reset so dont worry

basically if its stuck on the Language page the box needs reflashing... it could have been a corrupt file ( no problem) that you used... try refashing it!!

    You`ll need a null modem cable - DB9F to DB9F.
Click on the second link under my sig for all the starview info.

that cable sounds like a rs232 serial extension cable, as you hav a db9m (male) and a db9f (female) ends on it, it needs to have db9f on each end and be a NULL cable

the female end goes into back of sv, so where are you plugging the male end into on your laptop, only place I can think you are plugging it into is the vga port, which is used for an ext monitor but that has more pins in it

sounds like you have the wrong cable m8

    As JOK explained .,..

    Compliments of Hiteck

These are the cables you will need to flash your box with the new Firmware,
If you have a computer or a laptop with a 9 pin serial com Male socket all you will need is this,
Female to Female RS232 Null Modem Serial Cable looks like this,

    Or this one>>>

Make sure you do not buy just a Serial RS232 9-Pin Female to Female cable, they seems to be quite a few people buying these from mapl*ns, and they look exactly the same,

    M@plins order numbers are,

    L71BT Correct order code,
L68BT <-- This cable will not work!

So if you take the cables you boughtback to the shop and change them!!!
