I searched for this problem, but did not find anything that specifically addressed this.

I have been using Nero 7 Ultra for about 2 years, with excellent results. Yesterday however, during the encode process using Nero Recode, a "Out of Memory" error message appeared and the burn would not start. Also, a window opened up to save a Nero log file, which never happend before.

I am at a loss to explain why this is happening now. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

    Thanks.

Rip the movie to your HD using DVDFab HD Decrypter. Then try processing the files through Vobblanker before burning. I hope this helps...What movie are you trying to back-up?

I downloaded the movie, which already was ripped. It is a 1950's crime flick called Tension. I must have burned about 500 movies using Nero Recode and this has never happened. Why am I getting this "Out of Memory" message?

Is this a full DVD-Rip DL or is it in AVI or another format? If it is a full rip then the files may not be compliant and therefore Recode is choking on them, you could try DVD Shrink to crosscheck the files if needed or simply burn straight to DVD using Imgburn in build mode for VIDEO_TS or write mode for ISO image. If you are converting an AVI I would use DVD Flick instead of Nero. Here is a guide:

    Jackpine,
LOCOENG brought up a good point! We should retract and find out first what kind of format the movie is currently in; then we'll go from there.

The movie is a full DVD rip, around 4.1GB. (I don't remember the exact size.) The files are VIDEO_TS.

Thanks for the advice on using Imgburn. It worked. By the way, I rebooted my pc and tried Nero Recode again. This time it worked as it always had (except for the last few days). I have no idea why I had this problem in the first place.

    Hello,

I'm facing this "Out of Memory" error too.

I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium and Nero 8.

I have used DVDFab HD Decrypter with Spider Man 3 and now it's in my HD with full original size.

Using Nero Recode with a DVD+R DL (8,5GB), when starting recording I can see the RAM consumption rising up more and more and at 23% of the recording the RAM consumption is at 96% of the 2GB and the the Nero Recode gives this error: Out of Memory

Meaning that everytime I try this it gives this error. I bought this Toshiba A200-1AS on summer with only 1 GB of RAM and suceded to record one DVD+R DL with a movie. After this recording I had to format the laptp and instaled by mistake a Nero 7.9 version which is not Vista compatible. But then I installed a compatible version and now I'm using the trial version of the Nero 8

Does anyone has a solution for this?

Update: I never considered that this may have caused my "Out of Memory" problems, but a couple of months ago, I installed 2GB extra RAM to my computer that already had 2GB. The new RAM was exactly the same as what I had already installed, with the same timing specifications. I didn't use Nero Recode 2 again until about a month after installing the new memory. That is when I first got this error message. After a lot of trying to figure out what caused the problem, I thought I had solved it by rebooting the computer. I was able to burn successfully, but one time only. When I tried using Recode 2 a second time, I got the same error message and was unable to burn. I then removed the additional memory and ran the computer with only 2GB. After that, I have been able to use Nero Recode 2 with no error messages and no problems. I have since burned about 10 movies this way.

For those having the same problem, did you install additional memory? I don't know why it caused the problem in my case, but at least the problem is solved.
