My computer was working fine untill i put a new game on (Battlefield 2142) and the game loaded fine but before i started playing it said to load a patch so i did it got to 24% i think then stoped i rebooted my computer and norton goback said its not safe to load windows and rebooted. it did this over and over then i shut goback off and got back on to windows fine but then my computer went realy slow and i found out my computer over heats with stress i openend the case and put a big fan there to stop the over heating it works but i realy need to fix it my friend says its the fan not cooling down the computer but is it the hard drive with the over heating problem or the fan ? and how do i fix ? i took it to a repair shop but the guy just told me what was wrong for £60 and said he didnt know what to do but for £150 he would give me a new hard drive. Sorry for it being long but thanks if you read it
That guy's ripping you off. £60 for advice is a lot, and £150 for a hard disk is ludicrous unless it's 750GB, which I doubt. It does indeed sound like your PC's overheating. Do you know what case you have for your PC, or who built it? We need to know if you can put any more fans in it.
Could you possibly take a picture of it? The specs would also be nice. Download speedfan and check your idle temps and post them also.
The power connector for the fan on my Freezer 7 Pro has stopped making contact (AGAIN), and my CPU gets hot but runs fine at idle, load it up and I expect it will crash (haven't done so), so that's something to bear in mind, CPU fan is very important, not just case ventilation. Fortunately it's soon to be replaced.
Thanks for helping im working on geting a picture of my computer Its an emachines E4020 but i went on there site and they dont have it on there also i have had folts with it before the graphics card was a 128mb but couldnt manage that amount so i had to get a new one ithes still 128mb but this onw works fine.
That sounds odd, probably an incorrect setting rather than faulty hardware, I'm not a great fan of emachines computers, often built on the cheap. The power supplies in them are especially bad, but there we go, I'm not here to slag off your PC.
Im still trying to get a pic but every one in my family has one but me and no ones willing to share so it could tank a bit longer
has what, a camera? You don't need one, just press the printscreen button and open paint, go paste. Et voila, one screenshot.
go to http://www.imageshack.us and upload the photo. Take the last link 'Direct link to image' and then insert it as an image in this thread.
