Overclock DG965 ry board?

    can anyone tell me that is it possible to overclock my mother board which is intell DG965 ry .i read somwhere that if it can be overclocked to 4ghgz.so was wondering is it possible?

    if you bought the computer with the board already installed then you will not be able to overclock it. the bios will be locked down and not alow you to do anything.

    yeah i have already installed it on my computer .so you mean to say if i have used my mother board then there is no other possible way of overclocking it?

    No thats not what i meant. go into your bios by pressing delete after you restart. look through the menus for overclocking options like fsb and memory stuff. if you can find those options then you can overclock. if those options are greyed out then you are out of luck and will have to stick with stock speeds.

    Just to clear this up - you can't overclock motherboards exactly, you use them to overclock other things - Bus speeds and therefore the CPU, Memory etc. Getting to 4Ghz will:
    a) depend on what CPU you have
    b) require a decent aftermarket cooler
    c) require a high voltage - don't go too mad or your CPU will break
    d) require a good Power supply.

    If you have the Intel DG965 than no only there Intel extreme series(Badaxe,Bonetrail) offer any overclocking options in the bio's.

    ok.agree with the statement given by sammoris but before i dint get a option of increasing the ram,because it was 500 only and all of a sudden yesterday it showed 800 option so i just clicked that option and now my comp wont start only .i have posted a thread as to what my problem is so please guide ..me help me out here
