If you owned or own a BenQ 1620, DW1640, Plextor PX-740A, Sony DRU-810A, Pioneer DVR-110D, or 112D your opinion is wanted. I have been searching this form for the top DL burners. I have come across the above drives repeatedly. My problem is these are all older drives. From about 2005 I think and finding one new is not easy. What DL burner do you own now or would you recommend that can booktype or bitsett? DO you know where I could purchase preferrably the DW1640 brand new?
I've got 2 of the benq 1620's,1640,and 2 1650's and they are all phenomenal booktyping dvd-rw drives. I also have a Plextor PX716A and also booktyping with it. All are very good drives. I heard the end of Benq was close, so I stocked up. Try Ebay,but be careful. Find a slightly used one from an individual and not the refubished ones from their bigger sellers. Only 1 Benq 1640 listed at ebay at this moment,but lots of the Plextor 716A's. I'm not up on the latest quality drive that is going right now.
I have a plextor 740a and have been very pleased with it, and i also have a plextor 760a which has a done a wonderful job. I would recommend the 760a peace
I can't remember when I've had a bad DVD copy from the Benq and thats going through a lot of dvds..... but I went to copy a cd the other day and the cd side of it has gone for a walk. Not a huge problem as I have other systems. Out of 10 its got to be 9 for the benq, PC world were selling it when I bought mine so thats got to be 2 years ago I think.
