Ok well this is my situation.. my computer is by no means new, its pretty old but still serves me well for what i use it for, except for the USB 1.1 thing. My motherboard comes with two USB 1.1 ports. But i wish to purchase a USB 2 card for obvious reasons! What i want to know is whether my motherboard and a USB 2 Card are supportive of eachother, or will its purchase be a waste of time because my motherboard (being so old) wont transfer at the USB 2 speeds? I found a link of my motherboad with some details of my motherboard: http://www.motherboard.cz/mb/ecs/P4VXAS.htm Thanks in advance
any available pci slot will do, what matters is the controller card is usb 2.0 , see this link, http://www.sonnettech.com/product/allegro_usb2.html
Today i purchased a USB 2 PCI Card and installed it to one of the available PCI Slots. My computer cant find the new hardware (card). I am running windowx xp service pack 2. The driver for this card is included in the service pack 1 from my research, thus should automatically install when the system loads up. Does anyone know why my computer cant recognise the card in the PCI slot? Like i said above my motherboard comes with two USB 1.1 ports, so im thinking maybe my motherboard does not support usb 2? Any thoughts would be appreciated so i can return the card.
