Hi All. I am a new member. I was searching google looking for a way to convert PAL to NTSC. I used VobBlanker and I was able to play SINCITY and MR and MRS Smith, but every 3 seconds the movies would pause "hickup". it wasnt as bad on sincity. does any one know why that is? is it frame rate? when it was pal it didnt pause "hickup" every three seconds. If I play it from an image on power dvd its fine, but not on a normal dvd player.Im half way there at least it plays.
Hi there... perhaps your bitrate is too high and that makes the DVDPlayer choke when its playing the movie... Use AVICodec to determine how much your bitrate is, it's usually better if left below 6000 bps...
I doubt it's bitrate. Depending on the method you used to do the conversion, some encoders must add frames. A 25fps PAL video, converted to 29.97fps, can get 3.97 frames added to the video, per second, or roughly 20 frames every 5 seconds. To do this, it duplicates the last frame of a GOP (usually), over and over, until the gap is filled, thus the "hiccupping" effect. It's better to convert 25fps to 23.976fps, and the encoder simply does away with a B or P frame every second, the result is much smoother, but even then, some encoders don't do this every frame, but wait until 10 or 15 frames must be removed, and then does it all at once, also resulting in jerky video. The best way, is to not convert at all, but if you must, use DGPulldown to change only the header of the video, so the player thinks it's NTSC, and just plays it, with no hiccupping.
very nice thank you. i have the program and im seeing all the files in the video_ts folder im not sure what files to change ? all of them? I tried to post a screen shot but it won't paste.
