Im having problems with my Dazzle Digital Video Creator 90 capture NTSC to video. The DVC90 will capture NTSC but it will only capture a true NTSC signal, not a PAL-60 NTSC signal like some of the multi-standard European VCRs output.

Now what do i do i live in London how can i find out which VCR players dont convert NTSC signal to PAL-60 NTSC signal? What do u call that procees?

help me plz if this been posted before which i didnt find than slap in a face and show me the direction.

    thx

In the UK, as far as I know, almost all VCR's that offer playback of NTSC tapes will output PAL-60. I doubt you'd find an off the shelf VCR that would output true NTSC. You'd have to search for a genuine multi-system VCR for that and those will be pricey. Even still, read the specs carefully.

Something like this will output true NTSC:

    but something like this won't:

Your other choices would be to search for a capture card that can handle PAL-60 (e.g. some ATI cards) or purchase a cheap American VCR off ebay.

"With the Samsung Multi-System WorldWide VCR You can convert VHS and S-VHS from Europe, Asia, Australia, Middle East, South America or Africa to the American NTSC system or to any other system you like." That sounds very good.

But god i bought this dazel USB for £60 and thought im sorted all my NTSC tapes are gonna be on HD. I cant afford extra costs. Can u advise me a good capture card and i could convince my dad that it good for his business, any good cap. cards?

    thx

Well, I've got an ATI All-in-Wonder X600 Pro, which supports PAL-60. But, please don't buy this on my recommendation because I live in an NTSC land and I've never tested a PAL-60 capture with it. It claims to support PAL-60 though.

Check out some of the ATI cards around London, see if they support PAL-60.

With your current setup you could try setting up Virtualdubmod to capture from your DVC-90 using the WDM capture drivers. I'm not sure if this will work but you've got nothing to lose by trying.

It doesn't look the Dazzle device is supported yet, but the WDM page shows you how to set up a custom profile for any capture card.

moonrocks: I have an AIW9800SE, and use the same capture program that you do. PAL-60 is NOT supported, at least not very well. I get an image, but it's blurry and smaller than it should be. I've been trying to find another card that can capture PAL-60 properly, but no manufacturer seems to write anything about it, and none of the salespeople I've talked to knows anything.

Meneth, thanks for the info. I've never tested the PAL-60 capture feature of the AIW card so it's good to know. Shame it doesn't work.
