    Hi there,
I'm going to send a dvd prepared in Turkey (PAL) to a friend in USA but as far as I know they use NTSC system. So I think I need to change the system from pal to ntsc. Do I need to do smth. about it? If so what sort of programs do I need? Thanks for your helps

    Check out this guide:

    http://www.johnisme.com/avi1.shtml

You'll need Tmpgenc Plus & Dgpulldown

It works, I just did it.

There probably are other methods but I googled this one and found a guide from VideoHelp.com

your friend can also buy dvd standalone player with built in conversion for about 70 bucks US$ with shipping off ebay. Just a suggestion, if you'll be doing this a lot then you won't have to worry about it.

OK... one thing to mention here...

DGpulldown will [bold] only [/bold] convert the frames per second (FPS) but will [bold]NOT[/bold] convert the resolution of the movie.

That is, for instance, if you have a 720 X 576 25.0 FPS PAL movie, it will convert it to another 720 X 576 resolution movie but with 29.97 FPS. In other words, it's just a hybrid movie half way through PAL & NTSC

I use VOB2MPG and SCVD2DVD after looking at many methods. These two make it real easy to convert pal to ntsc. Also great for converting avi, bin and mpg to dvd.

yes, WinAVI can easily do this trick! You can just change the setting on the " Advanced" to NTSC to do the conversion.
By the way, you can find the winavi from http://www.winavi.com/video-converter.htm
