I recently purchased this home theatre DVD recorder with 80G hard drive memory. I may be stupid, but is it possible to download movies to this hard drive and then burn them to blank DVD media, or copy from DVD to DVD-R? Or is it strickly for TV and home movie recording only? My father has a huge DVD collection, and I was going to make some copies for my own collection, and we were having some problems in trying to do so. If anyone knows anything about these home theatre DVD recorders, please help. I am new to all of this, and I would hate to have spent all this money and not get what I want out of it. Any help would be great. Thanks

Really, to get into copying and backing up movies, you need to think about a computer writer for that. The panasonic you bought is an amazing system, one of our users here, Ken,, has the same version without the HD. That must have cost you a small fortune!
