Just got this panasonic DMR-EZ27 only to discover that about 14 minutes into backing up some home videos from my 8mm camcorder, it pops up a message saying that "copying this material is not allowed" & then stops recording. There is no support on panasonic's website for this problem. Anyone know a way around this? BTW, I did do a firmware update on it from the website, but made no difference HELP!

Some of the newer recorders are very sensitive to minute changes in the signal especially on older tapes. This is misinterpreted as a copy protection by the machine and it will stop the recording. A timebase corrector or perhaps a cheaper alternative like one of those old macrovision defeaters might help. The only other alternative is to use one of the older recorders that ignore macrovision altogether. Do a search on timebase corrector and macrovision for possible solutions....

Thanks for your response. I did try a -R disc & it's working fine. Aperently it doesn't like the +R discs for some reason. Anyway, I can live with using the -R's , This panasonic model is supposed to support all the formats including DVD RAM
