I have a panasonic sa-ht650, and cannot figure out for the life of me what to do about it. When I purchase a new dvd, it will not play in the dvd player. It says "NO PLAY" I have to backup the dvd to a dvd+r and it will play fine. It will play audio cd's fine also. Anybody have any suggestions?

any chance the dvd is not in your region, and when you reburn it it removes the regions rendering it regionless and being able to play in your dvd player.
    Just a thought,
if not i would return it and get another one. (the dvd player)

No I checked that. ALl the ones I buy are region 1. Which the manual says is the only one my player will play. There is an option in the dvd player setup called "DVD-Video" that I can turn on and they will play, but I have to turn it on before every disc I insert, and sometime's it will automatically turn off. I don't know if there is any way to reset the firmware on this player or not.
