When I put a DVD in the machine it now just turns itself off. Turn it back on and it starts self-check but shuts down. After doing this about 10 times it will start. If you take the DVD out it works fine. These are disks and brands that have worked well in the past - includes the RAM disk that came with the machine. Any thoughts?
This particular model is known to have had problems similar to yours which become apparant after 12-18 months use. Panasonic did release a firmware upgrade to fix these issues so a phone call to a Panasonic support center may be your best bet. There was a detailed discussion regarding these issues on another website(AVForums) and in paticular on this page http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=316972&page=4. It would be worth checking this out, a member "smokin" did a very detailed investigation into this which included some input from Panasonic.
I've been using mine since the model first came out. Mine had some small quirks, but nothing major. I installed the firmware upgrade, and it ran like new, and finally started getting the TV Guide! Get the firmware upgrade. You won't be disappointed. Mike
