Firstly, I've searched diligently but couldn't find any other thread related to what I'm about to say. If anybody knows of one, please let me know and I'll go there. I bought a Panasonic SC-HT880W Home Theater a couple of years ago, but due to my absence overseas, haven't used it since almost new. There was a problem with the surround speakers not puting out audio and that problem still exists. I know it has to be something simple, but can't find the reason. The digital Rx is turned on indicated by a red light, and is receiving from the digital Tx plugged into the back of the DVD player indicated by a blue light. The speakers are plugged into the Rx so it should all be working but isn't. Whilst it's most unlikely that both speakers are duds, I've checked the resistance and it's what I'd expect at 6 ohms (the nominated impedance is 4 ohms, but that's a dynamic reading). Can anybody throw any light on what may be the cause?
The solution has been found. I had to select Dolby on the DVD setup since it defaults to 2 channel operation. It wasn't mentioned anywhere in the manual.
