I am in the process of transferring all my classic VHS tapes on to Discs.

I am using a Panasonic DMR E-80 with a Hitachi VHS player with a RED PRO copy guard (breaker) protector. I use the FR speed mode for all.

I just transferred HOLIDAY AFFAIR (colorized) to the DMR hard drive and then burnt a copy on the DVD.

Now, when I play the movie, the first 30 minutes is fine. The last hours is pauses CONSTANTLY. I checked and re-checked the TAPE. It does NOT pause any place.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

From what I've read on many other posts and forums, it is critical to use the highest quality DVD blanks. Avoid all cheapies. The Panasonic Tech Rep told me the same thing when I called in with a query about recordings that seemed to typically hiccup towards the end.

Thanks so much for that info. I am wondering if I use a slower speed -- 4x instead of 8x if that will help. I also understand that these are hard to find.

    Thanks again
