I have just found this Mac that someone has thrown out and I need to be able to get the password for the admin account (or at least reset it). I am currently in front of it it has three accounts: Administrator, User, and Guest. I am in the User Account since the password was password. Normally I use Linux and Windows (preferably Linux) and really don't know what to do here Please help me?
It depends on what version of Mac OS it is running. There is probably somewhere you can buy an install cd for the version of mac os its running, if its running mac os x. On the OSX install cd there is a password reset utility. Please post what type of mac it is, and the model.
Click the apple icon in the top left, and select about this mac. it will tell you what version of OSX you have.
Yeah.. we got it didn't we.. no install disk required.. just not the kind of hacking you make public. XD Hows it working? .. they weren't that great back in the day, but I guess for general browsing and email and stuff it's still a pretty good box.
It works real nicely it has 80 Gig of storage on the hard drive, and it runs pretty smoothly, It sometimes slows down pretty badly but that's only because it has a measly 64 Mb of SDRAM, I plan on upgrades later on. But thanks for the help, It's really appreciated.
