Question: How can I get rid of the Windows XP password screen so that I don't need to logon to my computer? anonymous Answer: You can get Windows XP to automatically log on a user account during the startup process provided that the following conditions apply: The Welcome screen must be available Guest account access must be turned off There must be only one user account on the computer and that user account must not have a password. If all of these conditions are met then Windows XP will not ask you to logon, it will take you straight into your user account. So how do we set up these conditions? To make the Welcome screen available: Select Start then Control Panel and then double-click User Accounts. Select Change the way users log on or off and then select the Use the Welcome screen for fast and easy logon check box. Select OK to apply the change. To turn off Guest account access: Select Start then Control Panel and then double-click User Accounts. Select the Guest account. Select Turn off Guest access. To remove the password from a user account: Select Start then Control Panel and then double-click User Accounts. Select the user account. Select Remove my password. Type the current password (that is to be removed) in the Type your current password box, and then select Remove Password. http://www.felgall.com/ntins18.htm
