Is it possible for a DVD burner that has patched firmware to have the ability to burn DL disks, which was originally a single layer burner? The Drives specs "say" it can after the patch
loco, You're so right. Those old litey's could do amazing things with patched f/w. I think there was even some patched f/w for some old 4x litey drives that would enable them to not only burn at 8x but enable them to burn DL media too.
Makes you wonder just how far ahead they were when they made the drive...surely a simple firmware patch made this all possible. The ability was there in the drive from the get go, it just hadn't been unleashed yet. cheers
I'm still a firm believer that lite-on is one of the best optical drive manufactures. I luv my benq but can't say anything bad about my litey by any means. The only real advantage my benq has over my litey is that it is a little faster ripper. Burning wise I consider them equil.
