Hi, im having problems with an old computer of mine. I sold it to my mate a few months back and now he has taken it back because the computer wont display a thing on screen. I switch the sytem on and the hard drive light stays solid for a minute then goes off but the whole time, absolutly nothing is displayed on screen. So far I have changed the memory, hard drive and video card but still having the same problems. I have also tried using the onboard vga but with no results. I know i havent exactly given a lot of detail to my problem but does anyone have any clue what might be going on? If i need to be more specific then please say so and ill go into as much detail as possible. The system is an emachines 420. The motherboard has been changed to an ABIT sg-72, 768mb pc2100, celeron d 2.66ghz, fx5200 (pci) Thanks in advance for any replies
take a look at the can shapec objects on your motherboard as they are capacitors & are to be flat topped not domed. disconnect all drives & cards from psu & motherboard to see if post. try another psu as had that happen with a customer. had power but no post til psu was changed. try clearing cmos as seen that before to kickstart a system. is both power connectors attached to motherboard?
