PC DVD ROM/PC CD ROM

    What is the difference between a PC CD ROM and a PC DVD ROM?

    So how come I cant play a PC DVD Rom or DVDs on my computer, but can play PC CD Roms and CDs? Do I need to install a programme?

    There are basically 2 kinds of "optical drive" that you can get in a computer... a DVD/CD drive that plays both types, and a CD drive that only plays CDs. It should say on the front of the drive what kind it is.

    if can only read cd's & not dvd's then you have a cd rom drive. a dvd drive can read any dvd disk & below but a cd rom can only read any cd disks.
