Hey guys, some nvidia video cards out there have the ability to pass through internal spdif signal via a cable through to the dvi port so you can use a dvi to hdmi converter dongle to send an hdmi signal. I was wondering if there is a spec somewhere or check that prevents me from splicing in the external spdif out cable into a dvi to hdmi dongle myself, seeing that I don't have the passthrough on my video card. Does anyone know if there are issues with this or if it's possible?
and, yes I am aware there are video card products with a spdif passthrough and there are spdif/dvi > hdmi boxes for exhorbiant prices, but I'm wondering if there can be a ghetto solution made, without replacing a brand new video card.
