I have a laptop with a ATI Radeon hd3200 graphics card with 256 MB of video ram and alot of games i play i cant get high resolution like 1024x768 or 1360x768(which is my highest resolution my monitor supports)

Take Metal gear solid 2 substance for example, it has a 32mb video Ram for minimal requirement. I cant even get 1024x768 because it gets choppy.

Strangely Half Life 2 and XIII works perfectly at 1360x768 With all textures at High

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Here are my specs for my laptop
    Acer Aspire 5532
    Amd Turion 64 X2 TL-56 1800MHz Dual core 512 KB cache
(i have the ability to overclock both processors to 2000MHz)
(original CPU was 1.6 GHz single core but i replaced it)
Ati Radeon Hd3200 Graphics up to 1408MB in Hypermemory
15.6 HD LCD screen (but i use an external Dynex 720p HDTV Monitor)
    3GB of RAM DDR2 400MHz
    160GB 5400RPM hard drive
Acer Aspire 5532 Motherboard AMD RS780m Chipset
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit

    I have another question.
When i meet the minimum requirements of some games i still get low fps and it happens a lot in first person perspective games like bio-shock and mirrors edge with all textures at low.
But i can play devil may cry 4 at 1024x568 with all textures on low with 35-40 fps.

Is there anything else i can do to get a higher fps for this weak computer.
I cant buy a decent computer till i get some student loans for college. :(

minimum requirements is just to run the games. doesn't guarantee decent framerates. if you don't have a decent graphics card from the start, you're pretty much stuck.
