Hi, is it possible that the message is ecc error DIMM_1? If so,I would say it's more then likely a memory problem. How many memory sticks are installed?

From what I can tell it sounds like a memory problem.Try taking out the all the sticks and reinstall them one at a time, continue to do so until you find the bad one.

THis motherboard only work in pairs. It will not start until all four sticks are installed and in pairs.

Well if thats the case all I can suggest is that you remove them and try cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser and make sure they are seated properly when reinserted.

What do you mean by contacts?

On the ram sticks there are gold colored contacts that make the connection inside the slots they are inserted in.Over time they may get dirty and may need cleaning. If you remove one you will see what I mean, remember to slide back (away from center) the two locking tabs before attempting to remove them.

Thanks for your help, but that didn't do it. Might just have to go buy new memory sticks.

Here's a bit of info on your computer I thought you might find it interesting, this was the configuration tested by PC Magazine in 2000.As you may notice the unit they tested only had 256 mb.of ram installed.Try what I suggested earlier it may save you some $$$$$ Best of luck.

Pentium 4-1400 CPU, 256MB of RDRAM, 256KB L2 cache, Windows 2000, 40GB hard drive, combination 8X DVD-ROM and 8X/4X/32X CD-RW drive, Dell GeForce2 GTS graphics card with 32MB of DDR SDRAM,
