    Hi guys,
i would like your opinions on what sort of antivirus, firewall, registry cleaner, defragmentor and other vital things that i should have on my computer.
    im currently using:
    nod32 AV
    zonealarm Pro firewall
    Registry mechanic
    Diskeeper

im just wondering if these are the best to use atm as i have been running them for the last 3 years (updating each year of course) and am wondering as to what you guys recommend.
    thanks and regards,
    Mubs

You have achieved "member" status to date. You should know that piracy discussion in forbidden here at aD. Edit your post or you may face consequences from the Mods.

    Your call.

Better than getting yer butt zapped eh?

Onto more pressing matters.. O&O Defrag is a very good choice, I think they're up to ver 11.blah blah.

Ccleaner is a less aggressive and free option. A great all round tool.

I've never used Zonealarm, but hey if it works for you then stick with it.

Nod32 eh? (shudders) Some rotten things have been said about it. My choice would be AVG pro or even the free version (apparently ok too).

Had a quick look at Diskeeper..my opinion?

Hmff! I have a free version of Paragon drive backup. My opinion? Hmfff! I too need a better solution.

    Hope this helps some. :)

cheers mate. im going to go and check O&O out.
as for AVG. i have also heard great things about it. but i dont know. almost every article written about it ends with 'its free' and i sort of get the impression that thats the reason why it is favoured so much.
is there any sort of objective data that shows whats good and what isnt?
would love to check something like that out from somebody credible.

The written word is open to many interpretations, I shall digress on this one.

You might find this a little interesting. See cdavfrew' comments...

    Hi mub6

If you paid for nod32, there really is no point to give it up for a free antivirus.

Same goes for Zonealarm Pro. If you paid for it, keep it. If you didn't, I will recommend Comodo, which is better in the sense that:
    -better protection.
-has a trusted list, so it's less demanding of your permission.

Diskeeper is an excellent excellent excellent defragmenter. If you have the NTFS file system, it will defrag your system in one minute. O&O is pretty fast as well, but definitely not Diskeeper's speed.

I see that you have all paid programs, thus making it hard for me to tell you to remove anything, because it would be a waste of money.

I'd rather you didn't use Registry Mechanic. Advanced Windowscare Personal does a better job, and is more safe + system optimization + security.

Here are more programs which I recommend:
    SpywareBlaster
    Spybot

Both these, combined with Advanced Windowscare's Security Defense module, will make your browser an impregnable fortress.

    Best Regards :D

PS: Somehow, I suspect you got your "paid" programs through piracy. Hope I'm wrong.... :(
